Annika Hemmerling
Auf dem Rücken eines Pferdes lernte Annika Hemmerling schon in frühen Jahren zu balancieren und Kunststücke zu machen. Damals ahnte sie noch nicht, dass ihre Träume sie einmal hoch hinauf aufs Trapez bringen würden, wo sie sich in die Welt des zeitgenössischen Zirkus vertiefte. 2013 begann sie ihr Studium an der ETAGE in Berlin und schloss 2019 ihr Studium an der Codarts University in Rotterdam mit einem Bachelor in "Contemporary Circus Arts" ab, spezialisiert auf Mundbalance und Tanz-Trapez.
Auf der Suche nach künstlerischem Inhalt beschäftigte sie sich seit dem Beginn ihres Zirkus-Studiums mit Stilmitteln aus dem Bereich "Neuer Magie" und "Tanz". Nach ihrem Abschluss vertiefte Annika ihr Interesse an diesem Bereich durch ihre Teilnahme am BETA Circus Program: "Illusionism and New Magic". In diesem zweijährigen Programm studierte sie neben führenden Akteuren der "New Magic" Szene, wie Valentine Losseau (Cie14:20) und Kalle Nio, die Kunst der Bühnenillusionen und die dramaturgische Schreibweise von Zauberei.
Ihr Ansatz zum visuellen Geschichtenerzählen und die Sprache des Zirkus haben zu Aufführungen wie "RITA" (2021), "Hold on Light" (2022) und ihrem Signatur Stück "LOLA" geführt, mit dem sie seit 2020 weltweit tourt. Sie ist Mitbegründerin des Duo-Kollektivs "Rita&Rita" und der "Kunst und Karpfen Gesellschaft" GbR, mit der sie sich für kulturelle Bildung im ländlichen Raum einsetzt.
Annika's passion for movement and expression began at a young age, performing gymnastics on the back of a horse. Little did she know that her dreams would eventually take her up to the trapeze, where she would immerse herself in the world of contemporary circus. In 2013, she began her studies at the ETAGE in Berlin and graduated from Codarts Circus Arts University in Rotterdam in 2019, with a Bachelor's degree in "Contemporary Circus Arts," specializing in mouth balance and dance trapeze. During her studies, she worked with renowned directors such as Lucho Smit and Nicanor Delia and was showcased early in her career at the CIRCa Circus Festival in France. In her search for artistic content, she has been exploring stylistic elements from "New Magic" and "Dance". Following her graduation, Annika deepened her interest in this field through her participation in the BETA Circus program: "Illusionism and New Magic." In this two-year program, she studied alongside leading figures in the "New Magic" scene, such as Valentine Losseau (Cie14:20) and Kalle Nio, learning the art of stage illusions and the dramaturgical writing of magic. This interest continues to shape her work, creating multi-layered and visually compelling emotional experiences through circus, illusions, and storytelling.
Her distinctive approach to visual storytelling and the language of circus can be seen in her performances such as "RITA" (2021), "Hold on Light" (2022), and her signature piece "LOLA", with which she has been touring worldwide since 2020. As an artist and independent company, she navigates between theater work, her own solo productions, and collaborations with various partners and collectives.
